As part of the development of the briefing paper “EÚ GMO politiky, Trvalo udržateľné poľnohospodárstvo a verejná výskumná" (2012) produced by public-sector scientists and farmers organisations, a survey was conducted among public research institutes active in agricultural biotechnology in Europe.
This survey resulted in a number of examples of public research slowed down, stopped or moved abroad, because of increasing regulatory hurdles and costs to prevent destruction of field research:

- Švajčiarsko – Wheat – Fungal Resistance
- Turecko – Sainfoin – Melon
- Turecko- Maize – insect resistance
