Genome editing is the precise targeted modification of the nucleotide sequence of the genome.

Using genome editing at a deliberately chosen point in the genome the nucleotide sequence can be changed by removing, altering or inserting single or a limited number of nucleotides.

There are different types of genome editing, e.g.:

1 – Oligo-directed mutagenesis (ODM) type of genome editing

2 – Site-Directed Nuclease (SDN) genome editing

A small group of PRRI volunteers, supported by Prof. Wendy Harwood of the John Innes Centre in the UK and Dr Frank Hartung of the Julius Kuehn-Institute in Germany, is monitoring and discussing new publications to help keep updating this page and its subpages. Other PRRI members are warmly invited to register their participation in that group via: info @ prri.net.
