Membros de PRRI participaron de 21 Outubro ata 1 Novembro 2024 como observadores na Conferencia da ONU sobre Biodiversidade 2024, en Cali, Colombia.

Conferencia da ONU sobre a Biodiversidade 2024 comprende:

• o Décimo sexta reunión da Conferencia das Partes do Convenio sobre a Diversidade Biolóxica (CBD-COP16),
• o Undécima reunión da Conferencia das Partes que actúa como reunión das Partes do Protocolo de Cartaxena sobre Bioseguridade (CPB-MOP11), e
• o Quinta reunión da Conferencia das Partes que actúa como reunión das Partes do Protocolo de Nagoya sobre Acceso e Reparto de Beneficios (NP-MOP5).

Conferencia da ONU sobre a Biodiversidade 2024 serves as a key forum for global negotiations on biodiversity, biosafety, and equitable genetic resource sharing, aimed at advancing the objectives of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), its protocols, and the Global Biodiversity Framework. Public research organisations such as PRRI play a indispensable role in these discussions by advocating for science-based policies, enhancing collaboration, and supporting innovation.

O principal obxectivo da participación dos membros do PRRI en COP e MOP é manterse ao tanto – e manter informados aos membros do PRRI interesados – da evolución das negociacións internacionais, e poñer unha voz á mesa que faga fincapé na ciencia, innovación, e solucións baseadas en evidencias para os obxectivos do CDB e os seus protocolos. Para este fin, Os membros do PRRI colaboraron con moitos delegados das partes e outras delegacións de observadores.

In the preparation for and participation UN Biodiversity Conferences PRRI closely collaborates with other member organisations of the Coalición de Innovación en Biodiversidade.

PRRI delegates focused on building strong collaborative relationships, and also participated actively in the Academia and Research caucus, in which COOPMOP2024 delegates registered under ‘Academia and Research’ collaborate (A&R contacts: Audrey Wagner (audrey.wagner @ biology.ox.ac.uk) and Hannah Nicholas (hannah.nicholas @ biology.ox.ac.uk).
