Członkowie PRRI uczestniczyli od 21 do końca października 1 Listopad 2024 jako obserwatorzy na Konferencji ONZ w sprawie różnorodności biologicznej 2024, w Kali, Kolumbia.

Konferencja ONZ na temat różnorodności biologicznej 2024 obejmuje:

• the Szesnaste spotkanie Konferencji Stron Konwencji o różnorodności biologicznej (CBD-COP16),
• the Jedenaste spotkanie Konferencji Stron służącej jako spotkanie Stron Protokołu kartageńskiego o bezpieczeństwie biologicznym (CPB-MOP11), i
• the Piąte spotkanie Konferencji Stron służące jako spotkanie Stron Protokołu z Nagoi w sprawie dostępu i podziału korzyści (NP-MOP5).

Konferencja ONZ na temat różnorodności biologicznej 2024 serves as a key forum for global negotiations on biodiversity, biosafety, and equitable genetic resource sharing, aimed at advancing the objectives of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), its protocols, and the Global Biodiversity Framework. Public research organisations such as PRRI play a indispensable role in these discussions by advocating for science-based policies, enhancing collaboration, and supporting innovation.

The main aim of participation of PRRI members in COPs and MOPs is to stay abreast – i informuj na bieżąco zainteresowanych członków PRRI – rozwoju sytuacji w negocjacjach międzynarodowych, and to bring a voice to the table that emphasizes science, innowacja, and evidence-based solutions to the objectives of the CBD and its protocols. PRRI delegates focused on building strong collaborative relationships, and also participated actively in the Academia and Research caucus, in which COOPMOP2024 delegates registered under ‘Academia and Research’ collaborate (ZA&R contacts: Audrey Wagner (audrey.wagner @ biology.ox.ac.uk) and Hannah Nicholas (hannah.nicholas @ biology.ox.ac.uk).
